I didn't realize how hard it would be to title a blog. It seems really easy. You just need a name to hold a place. Unfortunately, it isn't just that. Your blog's title is the public's first impression of you. It's the first thing they see and, depending on what it is, might be the only thing they see. A title might stave off those unsure if they want to read. It could pull in those who want to be a part of the experience but are frightened of reading the thoughts of a person they may or may not know. It all seems to be a little dance. It really shouldn't be a dance, because although it is quite difficult to step on a person's toes through the internet, there are definitely records of it happening.
This blog was teetering on the verge of several of several differing names. One option is a name I have been saving for a band, Action of the Beaver. Whether or not I start that band is quite another topic altogether, but I don't see it happening in the near future. Another option is Analytical Engine. It does suit me fairly well. Analytical makes sense because I analyze. I analyze too much. I analyze people and food and video games and so many other things. I guess I just want to figure things out. Being a psychologist has always intrigued me because I would want to understand the inner workings of people. I wouldn't be able to do that though, because I'm not good at fixing things and even the people who ask me for advice don't follow what I give them. Analytical Engine would also suit me particularly well because it is what the first computer ever built was called, and it was made entirely out of steam at that. Well, the computer wasn't made out of steam, but it ran off of it. As I understand it pretty much functioned like a calculator but was never built because the designer could not afford the parts. Back to the part about it suiting me; I like Steampunk. The setting and clothing interest me. They draw me in. I guess it's just that I like shiny things, though I really wish there were more to it than that.
There were a couple other ideas for names, but none of them stood in a league that I would consider good enough for my blog. I needed to put together everything into one name. I really couldn't do that, but a decision had to be made. I would say that the title I decided upon is Arguably a Compromise between the other options, but it really isn't and that would be horribly too punny for a sophisticated blog such as this one.
