Stupid Things Politicians Do

My brother told me once (actually several times) that I'm a parrot. It is true that my brother likes to say whatever he can to upset me, but in this respect he was right. I did used to parrot my father. He was my only source of political information and I took all the information that I could. Unfortunately, he's a die hard liberal so any information I take from him would absolutely be biased.

My dad has often enumerated (yes, he actually counts on his fingers while speaking the numbers out loud) the many things that Republican politicians do that are stupid. I tend to respond with the fact that all politicians do stupid things. I'm assured that even though they all do, Democrats don't do nearly as many and even when they do, it's all completely good faith, while Republicans are all evil. If you have been noting that none of this is my opinion, then you will understand that I would like some help here. I would like to be informed about all of the terribly stupid things that Democrats do. Actually, stories about any stupid politicians would do. I would just rather it not be about presidents. They tend to not actually be as important as people think they are.

Basically, what I'm saying is that I want some ammunition. I want to be able to make my dad to stop telling me about stupid Republicans by responding that all politicians do stupid things, with supporting arguments. I want my dad to stop being so vehement in his opinions without any idea of the wrongs committed by those he defends. Actually, I want this of all extremists. I want all strongly opinionated people to stop for just a moment and look at themselves. I want them to reconsider their views. If they pick up the same views, then so be it. I don't mind them having opinions. I mind them telling me about those opinions and telling me that they resolve the issue, when it really can't be that simple. Otherwise, the issue would already be solved.
